慶應義塾大学経済学部教授。1989年ロンドン大学で博士号取得。専門は日本キリスト教史、近代日本史。

Helen Ballhatchet is a professor at Keio University. She has also taught at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. Her research involves the intellectual history of Meiji Japan and she has written about missionary activity, Japanese responses to Christianity, and Baba Tatsui as well as working on Fukuzawa Yukichi.
